Sunday 5th May 2019 Day 5 of my new life. Time is flying by but at the same time going so slowly! How is that even possible. Since Gretna Green I have toured Glasgow City and know a little more than I did before about Glasgow! Mostly all museums and art galleries are free to get into. St Mungo is the patron saint of Glasgow and that the unicorn is Glasgow’s animal emblem! I spent two glorious nights stealth camping in Pollock Country Park (for free), 3 miles outside of Glasgow and a 6 minute train ride to Glasgow Central.
Stopped off at Balmaha and walked up Conic Hill – felt like a small mountain to me! But the views from the top made it worth it.
Now I am on the east shore of Loch Lomond at Rowardennan, with a view to die for.
I thought yesterday I was going to just hang out on the beach (I woke up to the sun shining) but I ended up cycling along the West Highland Way that runs along the shoreline of the loch. It’s actually 154 km long running from north of Glasgow to Fort William. I’m seemingly finding it difficult to just be still currently and the fact that a lot of people started turning up to make the walk up Ben Lomond, spurred me into heading out for the day. I ended up having to abandon Lottie (the bike) at a waterfall as the terrain was getting pretty tricky even for a steadfast mountain bike, turns out that was a good decision as I had to negotiate terrain on foot that I would not have attempted on my bike, without possible serious injury. See I’m not so crazy!
I walked for about an hour and a half enjoying the sound of the lapping water and birds singing before I decided that it was probably time to turn back as the path was never ending! so I broke for some lunch on my own private beach, before picking up Lottie for the last leg home! to ‘Lucy’.
She really has become my home in such a short space of time. I know exactly where everything is kept, and already have a night and morning routine, so that I have everything I need where I need it at the time I need it, like the porta potty and toilet roll in the middle of the night, or the kettle ready filled on the stove for a cup of tea first thing in the morning in bed! I don’t even have to go downstairs to make it. Bliss, unless of course I forget to put the cup out with the teabag in! What a problem to have!
When I got back I realised I had caught the sun (how is that even possible) and had to put on some after sun! – even though I had applied multi-protection essence before I left (thank you Michelle) – all part of looking after myself better than I used to.I’ve just done another video that I will post on you tube once I get back to where I have a wifi connection. There is only a one bar phone signal here and even that is not permanent, so my wifi dongle that I bought is useless! To be completely disconnected – just living life – scary!
Next stop Isle of Mull – when I’m ready to move on! Have a waterfall stop to make en-route – watch this space.
