Just 10 days, since my last blog, and the UK is now in lockdown. Lucy and I can only move for ‘essential travel’.
Today is exactly one year since I left my job. I made it!
Downs link cycle ride – last day of freedom
Monday 23rd March was the last day we were freely able to move around, see friends. It was that day that I went with my bestie Raimon for a cycle ride along the ‘Downs link’. A track that follows the old railway path from Guildford to Shoreham on Sea. We started from Henfield and rode in the beautiful sunshine to Bramber Castle.
For someone who has been travelling for ten months being told to stay put in one place for an indefinite period is pretty challenging. I am sure that I will need to do some ‘essential’ travel soon, particularly because I am currently holed up with my mother-in-law!
However, I have plenty of things to do to keep me occupied, including writing of my book ‘Let go – Fly free’. If you would like to read the first chapter all you need to do is sign up to my Newsletter using the Newsletter form at the bottom of this page.
Everything has changed
So my tenants decided not to renew the tenancy for another year which leaves me currently without tenants, so I have applied for a mortgage holiday as of course now I have no income. I will take the opportunity to redecorate and hopefully I will be able to get some new tenants in a few months time when social distancing is lifted. Otherwise I might well have to sell to be able to continue this journey.
I’m going to take this opportunity to sort out everything I no longer need. There will be quite a few trips to the dump I am sure of stuff that should have been thrown out long ago that is not even worthy of the charity shops. My final step to really letting go of my old life.
One of the reasons I was staying in the UK was to have a course of oesteotherapy on my neck and back but sadly I only managed to have two sessions before the clinic was forced to close.
Lucy was booked in for a service which now has to wait until after May 1. My niece has rescheduled her wedding to next year.
However, on a more positive note I have time with my daughter, before she heads off to university in September.
So for now this is where Lucy and I are stuck. I am so grateful that I managed to get back to the UK before any lock down and the Sussex countryside is a beautiful place to be stuck in. I am close to the nature that I love. I feel truly blessed.
I have no idea what my future holds now, like so many others, but I do know that Lucy and I will be heading off again when we have freedom to roam.
